2009-06-06 Circuses promote abuse of animals - Norwich, CT - Norwich Bulletin

Im writing to get the word out about animal abuse. Because summer is quickly approaching, it also means circuses will be making their rounds. Circuses, especially Ringling Brothers, promote the only form of accepted animal abuse. Thousands of animals are forced to perform inhumane acts for entertainment.

These acts are uncomfortable and unnatural for most animals to perform. When animals decide not to, theyre whipped, poked, burned and even have electrical rods used on them. Very entertaining, right Along with that, animals live in small, over-crowded, unsanitary spaces for long amounts of time. Many fall sick and do not receive proper veterinary care.

Hartman asked commissioners to investigate the incident that resulted in animal cruelty charges filed by Lewis on May 7 against Billy Joe B. J. Suttles, his wife, Laura Louise Westbrock, and his brother, Larry Suttles, a resident of Holly Ridge. The couple has denied the charges to the StarNews, saying they gave the horses feed after running out of hay. They want the animals returned.

2009-05-31 We asked you: Do animal cruelty laws go far enough

It seems that societies perception is altered by geographical area. I live in Nunavut and am always forced to make decisions related to this matters. I am a avid animal lover for life. Cruelty covers neglect as well. So before you categorize everyone under the same list, consider this. Someone who neglects their animals due to social issues and financial issues their animal should be taken. In the event where animals are used for fighting (Bulldogs and Roasters) court should be laying some huge sentences to discourage people from considering this practise. I believe posting peoples names is a breach of the Charter of Rights, but these names should be releasable to breeders. A system such as criminal record checks for seeking employment. Unfortunately some of you think that Dogs and cats are not animals too. Lets start fining the

When the boy and his colleague returned to work the next day, they found that the young animals had eaten their way through the box and three were still alive running around in the freezer. The fourth was dead and frozen in a pool of its own blood.

2009-05-29 Kennel Owner Guilty of Dog Abuse, Torture

What is wrong with our legal system. Who in their right mind would allow this animal abuser to ever get near an animal again. Not only that but what punishment is 20 days in jail, a usd. 500 fine, and 80 hours of community service. By the time this is all finished, she most likely have most of this reduced. Then to top it off, shes only charged with 4 misdemeanors. What justice is that for all the animals she abused What kind of people were on that jury Dont they see any wrong in what she was doing I think this lady should have everything done to her that she did to these poor suffering animals.
